Madonna with the Child in throne between Saint Agostino, Saint Giovanni Battista and Saint Caterina of Alessandria

The fresco is a fine example of Italian fourteenth-century Venetian art in the horizon of Veneto-Romagna.
The fresco is located in the north wall of the chapel of Monigo of the church of St. Nicholas in Treviso and there is a Madonna and Child enthroned between St. Augustine, St. John the Baptist and Saint Catherine of Alexandria .
Probably painted between 1300 and 1349 the painting reveals a remarkable artistic ability . Augustine was depicted on the left and is dressed as a bishop. He wears the miter and the left hand holds the pastoral staff . With the right hints at a blessing. His face is covered by a thick curly beard and his glance turns toward the image of the Madonna with the Child in her lap. To the right of Augustine is standing upright St. John the Baptist. He is closer to the Madonna and the Child but it seems that he doesn’t want to have a contact  with them, he wears a typical dress of his days and he his barefoot . The third figure is Saint Catherine of Alexandria, who is to the left of the throne and is adressing to the Madonna, she is dressed smartly.
